The larynx is home to the vocal folds—the delicate tissues that generate the vibration we perceive as voice. It is within the larynx itself that the entire voice system reveals both its full potential and its deepest contradictions. The glottis, formed by the vocal folds, is a kind of virtual organ: it exists only in the moments of closure, rapidly flickering in and out of presence, hundreds of times per second, as it opens and closes. A gateway that protects—and sings.
Most of the muscles responsible for vocal fold function are innervated by the autonomic nervous system, which means that voice cannot truly be “controlled” or “trained” in the conventional sense. More specifically, it is the parasympathetic branch—the one in charge of rest, nourishment, and regeneration—that governs the motor function of the vocal folds.
Many vocal methods seek to create stability and strength through increased breath support. But this often means using air pressure to stabilize the glottis—an approach that, while well-intentioned, can override the larynx’s natural balance and lead to subtle tension or fatigue over time.
This immersive, non-conventional workshop offers a radically different perspective. Instead of pushing the voice to perform under pressure, we explore how to let the larynx and vocal folds (re)discover their natural, parasympathetic way of functioning. Along the way, we’ll begin to uncover often-overlooked aspects of the vocal folds themselves—not just their muscular core or vibrating surface, but the connective tissues in between, where resonance is born and nuance lives.
With the guidance of an expert trainer, participants will experience how the voice can become powerful, three-dimensional, and effortlessly resonant—without strain or overuse. Even experienced voice professionals will uncover unexpected layers of vibration and fluidity, as the voice begins to work with the body’s natural design rather than against it.
Places are limited: as the trainer uses a hands-on approach, only 10 active participants will be accepted. A minimum number of participants is required for the workshop to be confirmed.
